The Global Vipassana Pagoda is a meditation Dome built from 2000 to 2008. This pagoda have capacity to set around 8000 vipassana meditators in one time. It is the largest meditation hall in world to located in Borivali, Gorai Maharashtra, India. It is among the seven wonders of Maharashtra by (MTDC) Maharashtra tourism development corporation. This title was given to the Global Vipassana a Pagoda after reviewing350 places all over the Maharashtra. The result of selection by (MTDC) were declared on 6th June 2013. The opening of this Global vipassana Pagoda was done by Pratibha Patil President of India on 8 February 2009.
About Global Vipassana pagoda
The Global vipassana Pagoda contain the world’s largest stone doom built without any support pillars. The height of the doom is 29 meters and the height of the whole building is approximately 99.06 meters. It is the double height of the previous largest home of the world. Which was around 97.06 meters. The inside dome is 6000 m in which 800 vipassana meditators can meditate one time. By the source 10 days of meditation course is held free in Global Vipassana Pagoda.
The Global Vipassana pagoda was planned to construct in 1997 which was started in 2000.The Global Vipassana pagoda consist of three sub-domes.The largest dam among three domes was completed in October 2006.The largest dome content relics of Gautam Buddha bone. Which is in the centre of the largest home making it the world largest structure containing relics of Gautam Buddha.The relics very imported from Andhra Pradesh, South India.
This relix were donated by Mahabodhi society India. The construction of the third term was complete on 21 November 2008. These don’t representa teaching of Gautam Buddha. Also the don represents the teaching of Gautam Buddha and shows the path toward the real happiness.

The Global Vipassana pagoda foundation of the dome made up of basalt, while the dome headset made up of sandstone. This time storm is specially brought from Rajasthan. This sandstone each have weight 600 to 700 kg. The sandstone is interlock with each other to make a dome. The gaps between don’t feel with lying motor interlock in a circular path to make a dome. At the top of the dome 1 spire is attached which is made up of real gold and the rest of the pagoda is covered with gold paint. This gold spire on the top of global Vipassana Pagoda is donated by Burmese.The global Vipassana pagoda door is made of of wooden.This wooden door is hand carved in Myanmar.
The design and construction of global Vipassana Pagoda is constructed by architect Pervez Dumasia Consulting Engineer N.R varma, Sompura and Chandubai Sompura. The Structural engineer of Global Vipassana Pagoda is Nandadeep Building Centre ( NPPCPL) Aurangabad.
How to visit The Global vipassana Pagoda / Location
The Global Vipassana pagoda is located in Borivali West at Gorai village in Mumbai. The connectivity to go there is very simple and properly developed as the Global seventh wonder of Maharashtra. You can visit there by bus train metro or by private vehicle. The coolest way to visit there is by boat as Gorai is connected with the water bodies. From Mumbai airport we have 2 ways to visit there. One is by water way and one is by road way by water way it takes 1:30 min and by road it takes 1:25 min , by the difference by kilometres it’s almost 12 km you can check it on Google map. You can also visit this place by public transport from nearest railway station which is borivali railway station also by metro you can visit her by nearest metro station which is Shimpoli metro station. You can proceed further journey by local vehicle like auto, Taxi or by ola uber. This can effect the reaching time of travel to the Global Vipassana pagoda.
What to see Near The Global Vipassana pagoda?
When you visit the Global vipassana Pagoda firstly while visiting their view will feel the nature lust near by area. The divine beauty near pagoda which give you the amazing feel due to nature and ocean touching land near Gorai borivali. The near by area is having lot’s off nature beauty along with beaches and many cafes and hotel to stay. You can also visit nearest water park ( WATER KINGDOM ) and also goria beach if you plan trip properly. There are many beautiful cafes , hotels and restaurants for dinning and stay purpose near the pagoda and many more to see. The Global Vipassana pagoda is open from 9 am to 7 pm and the ferry ticket is 200 per person including return back to nearest bus stop to borivali.
